A short history about "Continuous Professional Development"

This video features Ing. Prof. Jonas Redwood-Sawyerr, our former President, on CPD.

To stay up-to-date in the constantly evolving engineering field, it is necessary to intentionally pursue ongoing growth, both formally and informally. Engineers should be current with emerging technologies to positively impact their profession and communities. SLIE is committed to empowering engineers by ensuring they are relevant and prepared to make a positive impact.

Continuous Professional Development

As part of the membership requirements of SLIE, it is the responsibility of each engineer to pursue activities that would improve their knowledge and skills. There is currently a paradigm shift in knowledge acquisition and the competitiveness of the markets, which has engendered the need for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) by professionals who want to maintain their technical competence. The New CPD Framework has been finalised and is about to be launched. Learn more about it. Engineers are required to renew their membership by demonstrating at least 16 professional development units every 4 years. Each year a minimum of 3 professional development units should be attained. download a copy of the CPD booklet and forms to learn more.
